I have been rather slack of late with this ol' blogging malarkey. It's just been pure laziness, I'll be honest with you. Lack of get up and go (my get up and go has got up and gone) - I have been reading other blogs but not concentrating on maintaining mine, with the exception of the odd celebrity picture or meme.
I am ashamed.
But I am back now. I will now tell you all about the weekend - in the style of a primary schooler forced to write a story about what they did at the weekend:
I got up on Saturday. I did my teeth. Got dressed. Got in the car. Rocker drove us to Derbyshire. On the way we saw some cows, some sheep and some aeroplanes (passing Gatwick), the tank cost £42 to fill up (£42! - that's two decent handbags or a nice pair of shoes) - we got there in good time, the ideal time to drive up methinks, early Saturday morning. It was a pleasant drive, listening to old 80's tracks (Flock of Seagulls, anyone?) and chatting away. (My biggest fantasy is a road trip, call me crazy, one day I will do one in Canada).
The little darlings were pleased to see us. Within seven seconds of arriving, my feet had been licked by the smelly sausage dog that lives next door to Rocker's mum, mauled by a ferocious tabby and dragged outside to help Frank with her copperfoil picture (remember those?), which I got so into, the poor child hardly got a look in. I have now decided, instead of expensive therapy, copperfoil art is the way forward. It gets rid of any stress right away!
Off we went on a drive around the countryside. Let me tell you, I just love the country. The smell of cow dung, the buzzing insects around your head... I just can't get enough. We stopped in Bakewell for an authentic Bakewell Pudding (mmm) and stopped to eat in a layby right next to a field and a suspicious looking farmer stared at us over a wall. (My theory was that he wasn't wearing any trousers and was waiting for us to leave so he could make a mad dash back to his tractor, unseen). Rocker showed me some of the places he was taken as a child, it really is beautiful scenery.
In the evening we went on a Celebrity Hunt. Ok, before anyone gets too excited, I will elaborate. We get home and there is excited chatter about the possiblility of a once famous guitarist drinking in the local. The 'local' is so local it is next door. So off we trail, the whole family, Ma, Pa, children, neighbours, Wondy, Rocker, a stray sheep, seven dogs and a little family of ducklings (I lied about the animals). We get there and - yes - the ex-bassist from WHITESNAKE is in there, drinking a pint, bold as brass.
Me being me, was not really familiar with Whitesnake until they started playing some of their 'greatest' hits. Hm. Also, my idea of Celebrity is someone I may have seen shovelling up their dog's poo on the pages of Heat magazine so I wasn't that impressed. Still, a good night was had by all and we fell into bed happy.
Sunday was nice and sunny so we wasted it in the Cinema watching Suck Wars again. Ahhhhh... (satisfied sigh). It is so awesome, though a little cheesier the second time around, I'll admit. I used this opportunity though to gaze lovingly at Young Darth (especially when he looks all grumpy and toussled) without having to worry about concentrating on the plot. Highlights of Episode III are:
Chewbacca and friends - I love them and am strangley attracted...
General Grevious - my god he's so camp and the FOUR armed light sabre fight? Wet my pants. Yoda - love. him.
Natalie Portman's Danish Pastry Hair
Young Darth - nice helmet. tee hee.
Oh yeah, and even before the film started, I was launched into Cinematic Ecstacy by the trailers. The Chronicles of Narnia (I almost shed a tear for my lost childhood. I can't wait)! Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (only 31 days to go)! Batman Begins (yey)! War of the Worlds (I don't care if Tom is gay and faking a relationship with Katie Holmes, he's lovely)!
There is so much to choose from this year.
Now I know as a fan of Independent and foreign film I should maybe be anti-Blockbuster - but I can't be! I love all film, big budget, little budget (cardboard box) - I'm no filmatic snob. So I will be queueing up to see each and every one of those movies, and much more besides. Hurrah!
Then we drove home (four hours each way), had a cup of tea and went to bed. The end.

I know I wish I had such a wonderful talent - somehow I don't think speed eating a packet of hobnobs falls into the same category!
