The year of the Fairytale?

My God. This winter is packed to the rafters with AMAZING new films, the majority of which are good, old-fashioned fairytale/fantasy stories. My favourite kind.

Movies to wet yourself over this year:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - There is absolutely nothing I can say about this, as we all know the drill when it comes to the story, but I got shivers down my spine when I watched the trailer. Tilda Swinton couldn't be more amazing (she's amazing in everything) and Aslan! *shiver!*

And it couldn't come at a better time. Crimbo.

Corpse Bride - Been waiting YEARS for this. It looks incredible. Charlie & the Chocolate factory was sublime this year but I think this might just take the biscuit. Burton needs this movie to get back on top.

The Brothers Grimm - Looks nice and dark and Monica Bellucci is in it as the Mirror Queen. Enough said?

Howl's Moving Castle - Another sure to be a smash from Studio Ghibli. Spirited Away was one of the most inspired films of recent history and this will probably be no different. Bring it on!

King Kong - One word. WOW.
