That stoopid 'Gorgeous' Jaguar advert
Has anyone seen that Jaguar advert, the one that goes "Gorgeous can't be ordinary even if it tries, Gorgeous is worth it, blah blah fucking blah". Yeah, whatever.
It makes me want to blow hard chunks, it really really is the most pretentious thing I have ever heard.
My new version: "Gorgeous is a F**king myth. Gorgeous is three hours in front of the mirror with a trowel and a blow torch. Gorgeous is a f**king bitch that has no personality. Gorgeous is not eating for ten year and having hip bones you can hang your coat on..."
Bitter 'cos I have a face like a bag of smashed crabs?

I reckon you need to get a grip. Don't get me wrong but from that ad you can make whatever you want to make. Frankly I think the ad is 'gorgeous' and it doesn't have anything to do with the stuff you are on about, then again, you seem very bitter for some reason.
Well, I hope one day you too can feel gorgeous.

Gorgeous is a new symbolism for Jaguar it isn't an objectification of women. However, it is drawing a parody between the beauty of the new model line and the beauty of human form. Jag always has done that’s why it builds some of the most beautiful cars in the world. Oh and by the way the Guys in the advert are "gorgeous" as well as the women, it isn't a one sided argument.

And Jon, yes, this is symbolism, but it is not parody. It's a particularly time-honored and crass version of symbolism in which sexy woman=sexy car as an elusive luxury item to be "purchased" ("gorgeous pays for itself in the first five seconds") by successful men.
Yes, there are men in the ad, too. But they are explicitly not objectified in the same way the women are.
Anonymous #2, I hate to break it to you, but observant women have plenty to be bitter about when it comes to portrayals of women in the media. You say "bitter" like it's a bad thing, but when it comes to campaigns like this, I simply view it as evidence that the woman in question is thinking seriously about the messages society gives her, rather than simply accepting them at face value.
