Just Do It
Yesterday I read a story in my magazine that really inspired me. Ok, so the magazine was GLAMOUR but hear me out!
The article was about a group of women and a series of life-changing decisions they had made that totally altered their outlook and made them happier than ever before.
The one that inspired me though was about a young woman, about my age, who'd qualified as a lawyer after dreaming all her life of becoming one. She had been promoted and her salary had jumped up to £100,000 a year and she had a team of young professionals working beneath her. She's was basically at the peak of a career she had always wanted and had worked for years to achieve.
Then she went on a holiday to Cornwall with a new boyfriend and just before she left to go back to London, where she lived, she went for a walk on the beach. A seagull landed at her feet and cocked his head and she began to laugh. It suddenly dawned on her that she'd never laughed like that at work and worked in an environment that didn't encourage it. She'd even been told in an interview that she was perfect in every way to be a lawyer, except for the fact that she 'smiled too much'.
So there and then she decided she didn't want to work or live like that and she drove to the nearest phone box where she handed her notice in to her boss. He begged her to stay and offered her a massive bonus but she said no.
And she stayed in Cornwall where she learned to surf and wrote two novels whilst sitting on the beach. Which were both published. And she says she's never been happier.
To me that story is amazing. To have the clarity to make a decision like that based on your instinct is incredible. That woman may be my new personal hero.

Amazing story....does the fact that I hate the girl in the magazine make me a really bad person?
Probably does but I can't help it. If I were to do something like that, I'd starve to death...or get hit by a bus the next day or something like that!
;)
I think maybe that sometimes you just know whats right for you.God for her must of taken a lot of courage.
