I Heart Fragglehump

The funniest thing I've read all week, via Fragglehump:

"Mum has found some letters she wrote to her best friend - (My 'Auntie' Paula) when we lived in the south pacific. I was aged between 2 and 6. and they are very telling. Here are some favourite paragraphs. Its fair to say I was a strange child.

'You are very much in vogue with Ellie, Paula. One morning she wanted to come and see you so I gave her a photo. Ellie thinks its great and has phases of carrying it about everywhere, showing people Auntie Paula and taking it to bed! If she loses it she says 'Wheres Auntie Paula?'
I try to keep it blue tacked to the wall but it does wander.'

'We have a new cat, she puts up with an awful lot of rough treatment from the children - getting stuffed in boxes, poked, chased, pulled, tweaked etc. But she occasionally gets her revenge, when quite unexpectedly she will leap at someone and take a nip - mainly a naked Ellie.'

'Her command of language is impressive, but the old dictation doesn’t progress much. Early on we had 'Bockboats' - a cockroach, now we have 'Bash and Boot' - Passionfruit.'

'Ellies latest trick is to sleep in the corridor outside her bedroom - on the floor. She has done it 3 nights this week. I put her back to bed but find her in the corridor the next morning. Her favourite exclamation is 'Wow' and her favourite songs are 'Oba darling' (Clementine) and 'Puff the Market Garden'.

'One day Ellie was sitting in the chair 'reading' to teddy and dolly, and he said "If you don’t listen, I will smack your bottom!' The book was island recipies, upside down of course'
'Ellie drew a picture of a cat for you, with 4 legs and one eye but I cant find it'.

Ellie has started 'Kindy' as they call it here. She regards Mrs Dwyer with the same awe and devotion as Jon did with Mrs potter. She is getting quite good at intergrating with 'The brown children' - quite a change from the rampant little racist she was!

She has started to swim, a strange dolphin-like style, mostly under the water, coming up for air and then going back down again. She does the most amazing flying belly flop dives as well. All quite horrific to watch (and be in the way of!)

'Jonathan has become rather shy - esp in large numbers of people, he is not comfortable at all. Ellie on the other hand, is a strong willed little madam. A riding friend said she will make a good horsewoman by sheer domination.' "

That's my Blinkhorn!
