The Elephant (Wo)Man

What was I saying about dignity? Oh yeah, scrub that - I have none left. However, yesterday I did climb a freakin' mountain!

Ha, yeah you heard that right - Miss Bone Idle - climbed a freakin' mountain!

Actually, if you asked, say, Rocker whether it was a mountain, he'd probably say it was more of a slight hill but in my version of events it was a great big mountain and I had to scuttle up it barefoot, straight up with just a mangy bit of bamboo shoot to pull myself up with and although the rest of the 'effortless travellers' (you know the types, never get dirty, never fall over in the mud, never get bitten by flying winged things), well, they all completed said task in about .5 seconds, while I took half an hour - but, I march to the beat of my own drum and if that march takes longer than theirs then so be it.

When I got to the top, scuffed knees, running mascara and muddy shins and all - I felt like I had achieved something great!

I climbed a freakin' mountain!

I also rode atop an Asian elephant and took a bamboo raft down a river, where a baby cobra swam over my foot. A cobra!

Pictures will follow and you will love them. The elephants really are amazingly good fun, though v. v. uncomfortable - worst than riding pillion on the back of a motorbike for hours and hours.
