Inspiration
I sometimes think of myself as a creative soul with a good eye for the artistic – but when I pick up my brother’s camera and scroll through the shots he’s taken over the past three months – I am blown away. He has such a talent, such a fucking eye for a good picture, that any snap shots I have taken on my travels seem like finger paintings in comparison.
You would not believe some of the things he’s captured on his Canon, things he hasn’t even made public yet. These pictures, in my humble opinion (and I’m an amateur at best), are even better and have more soul, than any of the ones he shows people on his blog.
The thing is, I always tell him he doesn’t take enough shots and that I’m dying to see more of what he can do – then I realise I am guilty of the same. I hardly write enough, I lack confidence and above all, I am bone bastard idol. I’ve written maybe a handful of things that I feel I could be proud of in the past twelve months. That’s practically zilch.
So this year I am breaking out. I’m putting on my thinking cap, I’m doing my research and I am going to be a bloody writer, successful or not.
I’m also going to revisit my childish enthusiasm for all things arty and I’m going to embrace amateur photography and other such avenues, such as needlepoint – which is big in the Catwalk community I’ll have you know!
So, inspired by Tim, I am going to be an artist too. Look out world…
