High Brow Eye Brow

I've been a proper intellectual this weekend, renting not one but three 'intellectual' movies. Well, intellectual in the sense that they don't star someone from Saturday Night Live or satirise a popular genre such as horror (not that there is anything at all wrong with that, there is a time and place for everything!).

So first of all we had Lord of War with Nic Cage (who incidently has not 1 but 9 new movies coming over the next year or two), all about arms smuggling. I love Nicolas Cage - it's so good to see him on form, he's brilliant in nearly everything he does. The other night Leaving Las Vegas - I'd forgotten how amazing he could be.

Then came an evening with Viggo Mortensen in A History of Violence - which wasn't as incredible as I expected it to be. Sure it was interesting and violent and you can't fault the cast, but it sort of bubbled under for a few hours then fizzled out. I expect more from David Cronenberg.

This afternoon we settled down to The Constant Gardener. I loved it. Rachel Weisz really proved her worth as the spunky wife of a diplomat who gets herself murdered while trying to uncovered corruption and greed in Africa. Very sad though. I think it should have been in the running for Best Picture at the Oscars too.

And I've decided to get http://www.wondywomanfilmgeek.blogspot.com back up and running as it's been sorely neglected for months now.

Film is my first love and I will not turn my back on it!

I ALSO saw Lord of War recently. I liked it a bunch. haven't seen a History of Violence yet, but it's on my netflix.

The Constant Gardner was excellent. Rachel Weisz is amazing.

I watched "History of Violence" this weekend too (you know I am a HUGE Viggo fan) and it was pretty good. I did like the "sex on the stairs" scene however. Does that make me a pervert???

*sigh* Yeah, probably so.

But they flashed Viggo's ass...;)

Yeah, I know...I'm still a pervert...;)
