The Weekenders

I have finally relented and started eyeing The Da Vinci Code with a view to actually reading it. Bold move on my part I think, as I've been avoiding it for so long.

I've just got to finish The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, which I've been enjoying so much and then I'll start it.

To me it now feels like an A-Level title I have to read. I have no doubt that I will enjoy it, I've just been trying to act all cool about it for so long, it's become like a pact I've made with myself not to jump on the bandwagon.

I'm quite looking forward to it now, actually.

This weekend has been one of the laziest in history. I've only seen two people, or three if you count the little Indian man at the shop who sold me cat food. On Saturday I stayed in bed and watched Kill Bill: Vol. 1 following swiftly by Kill Bill: Vol. 2 straight after it.

I freakin' love them both, I might even stand up and say they are Tarantino's finest work to date. I just love the imagery, the story, the action - I want to train now in the Art of Samurai though I'm sure I'm too clumsy to be truly effective with a Samurai sword.

I'm becoming more and more obsessed with martial arts and kung fu. Much of it is surely contrived for film, but it's so beautiful, so fluid. Zatôichi is my favourite film, possibly ever.

Yeah, so Saturday, as the rain hammered against the bedroom window, I was still in bed with Lucy Fur, reliving the massacre at the House of Blue Leaves.

Sunday and today were just total veg out days. We're so poor at the moment, all we ever seem to do is worry ourselves sick about money. So we chilled out like bohemians with some movies and kept each other company.

I love hanging out with Rocker though. He makes me laugh when he wants to. We're an odd little family, Rocker, Lucy Fur and I, but we're a family nonetheless.

I've given up worrying about money. I can only make what I make and pay the bills. If there's anything left then great and if not, well then that's life. Worrying will only add to the pile.

It's often a better day spent chilling with those you care about than being out on the town.
