Stone Temple Pilots
Today we did the temples. It was so hot I wanted to scream and I have decided to download the Jaws theme onto my iPod, so I can play it to myself as soon as I spy a tuk-tuk tout making his way toward me. That would entertain me muchly.
Once we had wrestled and fought our way away from said tuk-tuk menaces, we arrived at The Grand Palace, which funnily enough is about a fifteen minute walk from the hotel.
The King of Bangkok actually lives here, though they obviously didn't allow us in to rifle through his y-front drawer (more's the pity). The grounds are absolutely mindblowing and ornate. Well, you just can't believe what you are seeing until you actually see it, photos have been taken but I doubt they will ever do the place any justice.
I shuffled about a bit in the blistering heat and then Rocker took me to another temple, Wat Pho to see the reclining Buddha (pictured above, photo not taken by me, as it is in focus and doesn't have a thumb in shot).
I quite literally have never seen anything like it. It's magnificent and bloody huge. We made wishes at his feet for wealth and happiness, I'll be happy just for the latter to tell the truth.
Rocker is in the room in a rage because he keeps getting hassled by all the tuk-tuk/ping-pong touts in the streets and has decided he never wants to travel again.
I, on the other hand, am loving it.
You can't keep a good Redhead down.
