Heartbreak Hotel
There is nothing more heartbroken in the world than a very very heartbroken Thai boy completely in love with the girl who left him. Or so Rocker and I have found.
Our friend Rong is the sweetest boy you could ever meet. He loves us see, we are his best friends, especially Rocker. ("I love him so much. He is so so nice"). This morning he had our names tattooed onto his wrist, to remember us forever.
While he was being inked I sat with him and we went over the story again, of how his Japanese girlfriend started to change and then left him for another boy, one with more money. How he cries every night for the love he lost. How he would take her back even if she turned up here in Phanghan with another man's baby.
It's poetic and sad and funny the way he speaks. You just want to hug him and tell him everything will be ok again one day.
Everyday we go to see him and he talks at great length about his broken heart. I never thought I would be playing councellor to a lovelorn Thai on holiday but there you have it. And I don't mind one bit.
But he loves Rocker most of all, because they both like rock music.

Oh. That makes me so sad. Why do girls who have a one in a million good guy like that just up and walk away?! That really makes me rather angry. Here are a bunch of us who find none but the crappiest of all crappy guys and then she just leaves that dear boy. For shame, I tell you! I am, however, very glad that you and Rocker happened upon him so that he was not all alone in his grief. The gods have their workings, eh?
